Dear Families’ Diary,
You won’t believe the absolute fun we had on May 3rd. It was finally time for our much-anticipated family games and trivia night, and let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster of laughs, groans, and highly suspicious network speeds. We’d all optimistically agreed on an 8 PM sharp kickoff. “Sharp,” I say with a chuckle, knowing our family. As the clock ticked closer to 8 PM, I started our pre-game ritual: a flurry of stickers in the group chat, a digital siren call for attention. All I got? Silence, Crickets and little tumbleweeds. My heart actually sank a little, fearing a no-show. So, I took a leap of faith and started a voice call. Slowly, like sleepy bears emerging from hibernation, a few voices trickled in, and I gave them a gentle-but-firm reminder: “Games night people, Let’s go!”

We eventually  started the games at 8:30 PM, after what felt like a hundred tags and a thousand messages. And oh, the competitive spirit that erupted! It was a beautiful, chaotic thing. Everyone was gunning for points, eyes glued to their screens and ready to pounce. Then… there was Kehinde, my sweet lady. She was on an absolute tear, answering almost every single question correctly. We were all staring at our phones, half in awe, half in utter disbelief. Whispers (and not-so-whispers) started flying: “What kind of phone is she using?”or “Is she on a secret, super-fast network we don’t know about?” According to the rules, the first correct answer wins the round, and Kehinde was basically a human lightning bolt (like Usain Bolt but the female version, virtually).

Here’s the best part: no one threw in the towel! My amazing family members kept playing, kept fighting, even when it felt like Kehinde had a monopoly on the points. And then, in a glorious moment of triumph, someone else finally snagged a win.The cheers, the virtual high-fives – it was pure gold. That moment was all the motivation everyone needed, and suddenly, the “blaming Glo users” jokes seemed a little less relevant.
By the time we wrapped up, every single person who actively participated had at least one point on the scoreboard, a testament to their persistence and sheer will to win (or at least, not come in last). It was more than just a game night; it was a fantastic, hilarious, and much-needed dose of family bonding.

And speaking of bonding, guess what else my amazing family got to do prior to the games night? They bonded at a sports event (The mighty FOSC!) and of course, they “peppered” their siblings with pictures in our family group chat. Never a dull moment, never a quiet moment, and always, always a reason to laugh with my family.
So tell us, what’s your favorite family tradition, diary? Ours definitely involves a healthy dose of friendly competition.
