ON THE PATH TO BUILDING SUSTAINABLE LEADERSHIP FOR THE NEXT 42 YEARS.

In JCIN UI, leadership is our purpose and growth is a key element to becoming that leader. As we celebrate JCIN UI at 42, we are not just celebrating the time our organization has been in university of Ibadan. But, we celebrate 42 years of impact, legacy and of building young leaders. As much as our celebration matters, it is also a time to take a look at the future of our organization. We reflect on how far our organization has come for 42 years and how we can sustain its impact and relevance in the coming 42 years.

JCIN UI has always been that organization full of opportunities for students. The prestige it gives and its popularity in school makes every student want to be a member. But, apart from being a member, JCIN UI can bring the best out of an individual. It brings out the leader in an individual. Through various initiatives such as communication development projects, leadership training, entrepreneurship submit,  and others countless programs and empowerment JCIN UI has sustained its relevance and impact.

Sustainable leadership is not just about staying in power; it is about nurturing leadership that can adapt, regenerate, and multiply. It is leadership that empowers others, builds institutions, sustains impact, and creates value across generations. It means building systems and cultures that stand for generations. For JCIN UI, sustainable leadership means raising leaders who will remain relevant and influential over the decades to come. Raising leaders that can raise other leaders. Brings out the leader in you to bring out the leader in others.

The next 42 years will be that of excellence, as the experience from the previous 42 years will help build and grow JCIN UI. JCIN UI’s next 42 years will bring unprecedented changes to individual lives and the community at large. The problem solving mindset of its members, ability to work with a team and leadership skills will be a driving force for the change we need in our society. Not just the experience from the last 42 years will help, but most importantly the individual leaders it has built for the past 42 years will be a pillar to strengthen and build for the next 42 years. We hear, “don’t just take from JCIN UI, give back to JCIN UI.” So, we can safely say the products of JCIN UI of the past years will be a huge factor for the next 42 years.

Sustainable leadership is not about maintaining the status quo but the ability to keep building an organization that keeps getting better. Sustainable leadership is when every member of the JCIN UI  that has gained from JCIN UI can give back to JCIN UI for the growth of JCIN UI. The strength of leadership is values. JCIN UI will move its next 42 years with the values it upholds, thereby empowering young people to create positive change.For JCIN UI, growth has been an important factor for development. So, no better old days for JCIN UI, we would rather say better days are coming.

Has JCIN UI come a long way? Yes, it has. Does JCIN UI have a long way to go? Yes, it does. As Jayces we are not merely predicting the future, we are building it. And with the right focus, vision, and commitment, JCIN UI will continue to produce leaders who don’t just lead for now, but lead sustainably for generations to come.

As we celebrate JCIN UI at 42, we as members must recognize that we are both the product and the producer of legacy. The next 42 years will be defined by how well we sow into future generations today – ourselves.So, as we enjoy the JCIN UI week, let us see this opportunity to reflect on our own growth as members and the legacy we intend to build. This anniversary is a reminder that the journey of sustainable leadership is ongoing, and JCIN UI remains firmly on the path.

Finally, JCIN UI is the people in it. We are JCIN UI and our development is that of JCIN UI. Now, arise Dear Jaycee and let us build our local organization.
