On 7th September, 2025, the Junior Chamber International Nigeria, University of Ibadan (JCIN UI) held its first General Assembly of the second semester themed, “Navigating a Career Path in a Changing World” and was held at the Faculty of Technology Lecture Theatre. The General Assembly began at exactly 3:02 PM right after the President, Taiwo Olanlesi Odusote, called the house to order. Members rose to recite the JCI Creed, after which the General Legal Counsel certified the quorum and the General Secretary adopted the minutes of the previous meeting. Recognition is an important part of JCIN, and JCIN UI was honoured to have the presence of esteemed dignitaries, among which included Wareez Olosho, the 2024 General Legal Counsel, JCIN UI and other councillors of the JCIN Noble House, and a number of intending members.
Three directorates; Convention, Fifteen Outstanding Persons Awards (FOPA), and Innovation & Resources Management, presented their Plans of Action. These were deliberated upon, corrected where necessary, and subsequently adopted.

A key highlight was the training session delivered by JCIN Cllr. Gbemileke Onifade(2025 Immediate Past President). In line with the theme “Navigating a Career Path in a Changing World”, he engaged members with an interactive “five fingers up” game, sparking reflections on career, passion, and financial decisions. He also emphasized the importance of understanding one’s position in the value chain, identifying industries and niches, and striving to add value by solving real problems.
During deliberations, the Final Year Brethren (FYB) Committee encouraged finalists to remain active in the FYB group, while the Director of Communication and External Relations urged members to consistently check their emails to stay updated on LO activities.
With over 30 members in attendance, the Assembly was marked by its interactive, enlightening, and reflective atmosphere. One standout moment came during the Q&A segment of the training session when a member asked how to manage “too many ambitions and dreams.” JCIN Cllr. Onifade’s quick response “there is no such thing as too many dreams; we are all allowed to dream as much as we can”. These struck a chord with many, leaving the entire assembly inspired.
For closing remarks the President thanked all members for their presence, encouraged punctuality, reminded the house of the upcoming National Convention, and commended the efforts of the Executive Vice Presidents (EVPs) on the success of the Ibrahim Hammed Oratory Contest. The Assembly came to a close with the recitation of the JCI Mission and Vision.
