The Junior Chamber International Nigeria, University of Ibadan (JCIN UI) marked a significant milestone yesterday, June 1, 2025, with its third General Assembly (GA) of the local organisation (LO) year at the faculty of Technology Lecture Theatre, University of Ibadan. The event vibrantly merged official proceedings with a joyous celebration of the Taiwo Odusote-led administration’s first 100 days in office, drawing members in magnificent traditional attire that underscored the festive theme: “The Legacy of Us: The Journey in Motion.”
The meeting commenced promptly at 2:28 PM, with the General Legal Counsel (GLC) certifying the quorum, followed by the adoption of the agenda and the previous meeting’s minutes.
The General Assembly was a distinguished affair, graced by the presence of prominent alumni and collegiate members. Notable attendees included JCIN Amb. Agbomeji Olawale (2011 President, JCIN UI) , who was also the theme speaker for the day. He was joined by Mr. Senaya Timothy from JCI Ibadan, JCIN Cllr. Oladeji Mubeenat, (President, JCIN LAUTECH) Abebefe Michael (President, JCIN FSS Oyo), and Sylvia Obi (Alumni and 2024 Director of FOPA, JCIN UI). Their collective presence highlighted the enduring legacy and widespread impact of JCI.

The highlight of the assembly was the impactful and thought-provoking address by JCIN Amb. Agbomeji Olawale. He lauded the Local Organization President, Taiwo Odusote for her unwavering resolve and consistent efforts recognizing these qualities as invaluable assets to her administration and the organization as a whole.
JCIN Amb. Olawale’s speech served as a powerful call to action for all members. He underscored that existing legacies are inherited, and it is the collective responsibility of JCIN UI members to not only build upon these foundations but also to create even greater legacies for future generations. He delved into the rich history of JCIN and JCIN UI, spotlighting pivotal moments that have shaped the organization’s esteemed standards and reputation. The speaker urged members to critically assess their progress as a Local Organization and to quantify their impact on the University community, emphasizing their inherent capacity to drive societal change and progress. He concluded by reminding everyone that active participation extends beyond the board and executive members, stressing that every individual in the Local Organization is vital to its mission.

Following the insightful address, board members who had not been officially sworn in took their oath of office. Subsequently, the Directorates of Sports and Games and Secretariat Development presented their comprehensive Plans of Action to the General Assembly while that of the Directorate of Training and Individual Opportunities was postponed till the next General Assembly. In the spirit of celebration, President Taiwo Odusote delivered a “100 Days Presidential Report,” meticulously outlining her administration’s key achievements during its initial tenure. She candidly addressed challenges faced and proposed recommendations for a more streamlined administration. Both floor members and board members commended the President’s dedication, offering their own constructive recommendations for the administration’s continued success. Also there was a fireside chat with the Executive members. Each member spoke on how their journey as an executive has been and what they have learnt so far.
The final notable address came from the Immediate Past President, who emphasized the crucial importance of proper attire and appropriate conduct during General Assembly meetings.
The General Assembly concluded on this instructive note, leaving attendees with a wealth of impactful lessons.
Anticipation is already building for the next GA, which will double as the opening ceremony for JCIN UI week, promising an even more spectacular event.
