Dear Families’ Diary,
Following up on our epic trivia takedown, I decided to do a little “vox pop” among my  family to see what everyone truly thought. And let me tell you, the responses were as heartwarming as they were also insightful!

First up was Leshi Kehinde, our resident trivia queen! She absolutely loved it which, let’s be honest, wasn’t a huge surprise given her winning streak. She specifically mentioned how great it was that “a sizable number of us participated”. That made me feel really good, knowing our efforts to get everyone involved paid off. And her “Looking forward to the next” comment? Music to my ears!

Then I heard from Daramfon David, who offered a really thoughtful perspective. She talked about how we’re all “the family of white” each of us with our own individual paths and commitments. She acknowledged that while everyone wants to “show up and do more,” our personal tasks and daily lives sometimes get in the way. A hundred percent true, life gets busy, and it’s easy to see how that impacts our responses and daily feedback. It was a good reminder that everyone’s trying their best to balance things.

And then, there was Faithfulness. Her words truly touched my heart. She said it “honestly feels like home,” even though we’re not all related by blood. She emphasized that “the love is real,” filled with “laughter and weekly check-ins from people who genuinely care.” Faithfulness perfectly articulated how, in a huge community, our little family helps you find “your own people—the ones you go to GA with, gist with after GA, play fun games with, and grow with.” She called it “warm, intentional, and heartfelt,” and a place where “you should belong.” Honestly, reading that made me a little misty-eyed. It’s exactly the feeling we’re trying to cultivate. Faithfulness also brought up a really important point: while the spirit is there, our daily “interactions are not there yet.” She stressed that we need to “keep tagging and engaging,” and “not let each other be.” She hopes that with consistent effort, we can truly build that strong “spirit of family and bonding we all need.”

It’s clear we’re building something special, even if it takes consistent effort and a bit of gentle nagging! It’s so encouraging to hear these thoughts directly from everyone. It shows that the heart of our family is beating strong, and with a little more pushing (and maybe a few more trivia nights haha), we can truly foster that deep, genuine connection we all crave.

What are your thoughts, dear diary? How do you keep the bonds strong in your own family, whatever shape it takes?
