Building Pillars of Success: JCIN UI Forges Stronger Alliance with  the University of Ibadan’s Student Affairs

The Junior Chamber International Nigeria, University of Ibadan (JCIN UI), continued its tradition of robust engagement by successfully paying a courtesy visit to the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The highly productive meeting centered on the organization’s legacy of impact and its ambitious plans for the current administrative year, culminating in a strong endorsement from the Dean of student affairs. The JCIN UI delegation, led by the  Taiwo Olanlesi Odusote (Local Organisation President), included the Abdul-Rahman Al-Awal (Executive Vice President External), Joshua Samuel (General Legal Counsel), Moyinloluwa Amos (General Secretary), Nafiisat Akanmu (Assistant General Secretary), Abdul Quayyum Lawal (Director of the Fifteen Outstanding Persons’ Award FOPA), Majolagbe Yusrah (Editor-in-Chief) and  Ayomide Awofeso (Director of Communication and External Relations).They were graciously received by the Dean of Student Affairs (Prof. Demola Lewis) and the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs (Dr. Comfort Ailki-Raji).

The Local Organisation President commenced the discussion by outlining the core mission and values of JCIN UI, detailing the substantial impact the chapter has made both over the years and under the current administration. A key focus of the presentation was the upcoming calendar of events, notably: The 26th edition of the Fifteen Outstanding Persons’ Award (FOPA), a flagship event recognizing excellence across fifteen various aspects, The annual JCIN UI Convention and Investiture ceremony and the official launch of the Primus Magazine, traditionally unveiled during the convention. Following the overview, the President formally sought the endorsement and support of the esteemed Office of the Student Affairs for these critical events and the chapter’s overall activities.

Responding to the local organisation president’s presentation, the Dean of Student Affairs offered high praise, commending JCIN UI for its consistent high standards and sustained impact. The Dean, drawing on his personal history with the chapter, shared that his past interactions with JCIN UI have consistently left an “excellent remark and memorable moments.” He expressed pride that the Local Organisation continues to thrive, specifically noting and admiring the strong connection and bond JCIN UI has cultivated with its alumni, identifying it as a crucial pillar of the local organisation’s success. The Dean also probed the organization’s strategy for growth and membership retention. The President confirmed a healthy induction rate and a high number of currently active members. Expanding on this, the Executive Vice President External clarified JCIN UI’s strict adherence to its constitutional rules, which ensures accountability and the maintenance of a high-quality, impactful membership base through the probation or dismissal of non-active members.

In a powerful validation of JCIN UI level of impact, the Dean stated unequivocally that JCIN UI is “one of the best organisations on campus,” and affirmed his willingness to fully support and endorse the Local Organisation. This support is expected to significantly enhance JCIN UI’s credibility and visibility within and beyond the university community. He specifically commended the current administration for its “remarkable job,” recognizing the visible impact made to date. The Dean concluded by encouraging the team to “keep up the good work” in strict alignment with the missions of JCI and JCIN. The Deputy Dean of Student Affairs echoed these sentiments, offering further words of heartfelt encouragement to the delegation.

Beyond the serious discussion, the meeting was characterized by a warm, interactive, and humorous atmosphere, courtesy of the Dean and Deputy Dean’s engaging demeanor. The session was overwhelmingly productive, successfully paving the way for a year of collaborative success between JCIN UI and the University of Ibadan Student Affairs Office.
