By: Yusrah Majolagbe

The highly anticipated JCIN UI Week officially kick-started on June 15th, 2025  and our local organisation (LO) is buzzing with excitement! We caught up with some of our vibrant members to get a sneak peek into their expectations for this packed impactful event lineup. From thrilling events for personal growth to a party to wrap up the week, here’s what they’re looking forward to and what they hope to gain by the end of this action-packed week.

First is Leshi Kehinde Oluwadamilola. A 400 level Law student representing Utho Erurore Family.

The anticipated JCIN UI week has finally begun. How excited are you? I’m so psyched for the JCIN UI week because I didn’t attend any event last year, and the year before that, the highlight was the colour themed picnic, which I still think of very fondly.

The JCIN UI week schedule is packed with an interesting lineup, which of these  events are you looking forward to? I’m looking forward to Movie Night.

If you could magically add one new event or activity to this week’s lineup, what would it be and why? A family colour coded picnic.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, what’s the single most important feeling or take away you hope to leave with? I hope to get a feeling of satisfaction that no other week can top this.

Next is Kabirat Ojo. A student from the department of Educational Management representing Taiwo Ande Family.

The anticipated JCIN UI week has finally begun, how excited are you? I’m super excited for the anticipated JCIN UI week has finally begun.

The JCIN UI week schedule is packed with an interesting lineup, which of these  events are you looking forward to? I am looking forward to all the events but most importantly leadership and personal development session. The reason why I picked the leadership and personal development session is because we will learn more and gain more insight. I know JCIN UI always brought the best out of the best of speakers to us.

If you could magically add one new event or activity to this week’s lineup, what would it be and why? A humanitarian visit or school outreach. This is because we live in an environment where people are in need and I believe that adding this up will help a lot and put smiles on people’s faces. Just as the last line of the JCI creed which states “And that service to humanity is the best work of life “.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, what’s the single most important feeling or take away you hope to leave with? I hope to be better and be the best version of myself, my community and country at large.

Next is a humorous response from Ayomide Awofeso. A law student representing Lanre Bello Family

The anticipated JCIN UI week has finally begun, how excited are you? I can’t be any less excited, having witnessed the JCIN UI Week for the past LO year. I’m looking forward to experiencing the best JCIN UI week yet.

The JCIN UI week schedule is packed with an interesting lineup, which of these  events are you looking forward to and why? It’s an interesting lineup indeed, but the one I’m looking forward to the most is the Y2K party. We all know JCIN UI parties are always worthy of anticipation and I can’t wait to experience how beautiful this will also turn out to be.

If you could magically add one new event or activity to this week’s lineup, what would it be and why? Perhaps a money-sharing day. Lol.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, what’s the single most important feeling or take away you hope to leave with? The JCIN UI week is the only JCIN event that is exclusively about JCIN UI and her members. I hope that this brand week will help to further remind every member of JCIN UI, the beauty of being a member.

Next is a short and precise response from Leigh Oluwakanyinsola Prisca, another 300 level law student

The anticipated JCIN UI week has finally begun, how excited are you? Wow! To say I’m excited doesn’t quite cut it. I experienced the last JCIN UI week so I was really expecting a lot for  this one, and so far, I’m not disappointed. The event line up alone is enough to get anyone hyped.

The JCIN UI week schedule is packed with an interesting lineup, which of these  events are you looking forward to and why? Honestly, I’m looking forward to everything. Each event holds its own space in my heart, and I’m looking forward to each and every one of them.

If you could magically add one new event or activity to this week’s lineup, what would it be and why? A party! A cultural or denim themed party. The reason is quite simple, we just wanna party and release the steam of the week. There are other events in the week that could take that place though – the movie night and the Y2K party, but nothing beats a loud music blaring from a speaker and people on the dancefloor.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, what’s the single most important feeling or take away you hope to leave with? My takeaway, hmm… Comparing this year’s week to last year’s, I would love to connect with more JCIN UI members and not attend these events alone and be in my shell. So I would love to network more, and build more contact.

We also heard from the Executive Vice President (EVP) External, Al-awal Abdulrahman Adeyinka. A 400 level Animal Science student.

Al-awal Abdulrahman

The JCIN UI week schedule is packed with an interesting lineup, which of these  events are you looking forward to and why? Definitely the movie night. As a lover of movies, I’m really interested and curious about the movie we will be watching. Also it’s a platform to bond with the members of LO and enter the world of fiction.

If you could magically add one new event or activity to this week’s lineup, what would it be and why? I can’t actually think of one, I believe this week has it all and I’m really excited about it.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, what’s the single most important feeling or take away you hope to leave with? By the end of this week, I hope to walk with a fulfilled heart – one that is motivated. And I’m really excited about bonding with our members throughout this week.

And finally, we heard from Olutayo Samson, a 300 Level Law student representing the Smith Waheed Family.

Olutayo Samson

The anticipated JCIN UI week has finally begun, how excited are you? I’m super excited. I can honestly say that JCIN UI week is one of the things I look forward to every session.

The JCIN UI week schedule is packed with an interesting lineup, which of these  events are you looking forward to and why? I’m looking forward to the movie night and the picnic. Any opportunity to wind down and forget about my academic burdens is so welcome.

If you could magically add one new event or activity to this week’s lineup, what would it be and why? Honestly? Another party. Sue me, but I’d really love to get away as much as possible.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, what’s the single most important feeling or take away you hope to leave with? That familiar feeling that being a member of JCIN UI brings us what I want to leave with. I’d really love for every event to remind me that we are a big and amazing family.
