A JCIN UI MEMBER’S PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE ON THE JCIN UI WEEK DAY FIVE: GAME NIGHT GOT PERSONAL

Hello again, Jaycees! Welcome back to “Diary of a Jaycee.” If you’ve journeyed with me from Days One through Four, you’ll know by now that each day has brought its own energy, rhythm and revelations. Today, I take you into the unpredictable whirl of Day Five—a night of playful tension, digital banter and unexpected lessons. Game Night wasn’t just about fun; it was a microcosm of who we are when pressure meets purpose. Let’s dive in.

Dear Diary,
At exactly 8:00 PM, the virtual arena flickered to life, brimming with eager participants. I slipped in just two minutes later, at 8:02 PM, and the excitement was already palpable—voices crisscrossing, emojis flying, and screens lit with anticipation. Our moderator for the evening, JC Aanu, brought energy to the screen, but in a moment of delightful confusion, briefly forgot that it was a night strictly reserved for JCI affairs and not for our usual AI talk. The friendly reminder added a humorous spark that broke the ice.

As the game kicked off, a unique twist was introduced: we were to include our family initials in every response. A simple rule, but one that caught a few of us off guard—including me. I missed it on the first question. But by the second round, I had caught on and proudly represented my family, Taiwo Ande, earning 15 points along the way. It wasn’t just a score; it felt like a badge of participation, a spark of team pride.
Still, the night wasn’t without its hiccups. There was a notable lack of clear instructions at the outset. The modalities of scoring and participation were vague, and that ambiguity lingered throughout the session. Some members, myself included, missed potential points not due to inaccuracy, but due to confusion around the rules. These moments reminded me of how structure can either elevate or frustrate even the most well-intended activities.

Some members exited midway through the game, while others joined in progress. Yet, I remained from start to finish—committed to every click, every question, every comment. And just before we wrapped up, one of the moderators made an exciting announcement: a football match was scheduled for the next day between JCI UI members and the JCI Alumni. The energy on the call instantly lifted, sparking a buzz of anticipation.
And so, Game Night ended not with a bang but with a promise. A challenge had been laid down—a call to lace up boots, bring the spirit, and show up on the field for Day Six. But what would that day bring? A friendly rivalry? Moments of glory? Or perhaps something far more unexpected?
One thing is for sure, you won’t want to miss what happened next!
