Why We Said ‘Yes’ to JCIN UI: Newly Inducted Members Speak

How does it feel like to go from an aspirant to a full-fledged member of JCIN UI? For the latest inductees, their journey has just begun. We caught up with some of the newly inducted members to  get honest opinions on their impression of JCI, what inspired them to join, what they hope to give and gain from this new chapter and their big plans for JCIN UI.

First, we have Balogun Happiness, an 100level student of the department of Counselling and Human Development Studies.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
I’ve seen JCI as a platform or community for me to improve and grow myself, meet people and be able to serve as well.

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
At first, I didn’t know about JCI. I was encouraged by my sister to join.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
I feel really happy and excited to make it through all the process and finally become a member of JCIN UI

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to give JCI my very best, learning and serving and I hope to improve myself while doing so.

Next is a strategic response from Maranro Oluwaseun Ezekiel, a 200 level student of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, faculty of Agriculture.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
Before joining, I saw JCI as a platform filled with confident, visionary young leaders who truly embody personal development and community impact. Also seeing how JCI members carry themselves intrigued me to join.

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI? 
I wanted to grow beyond academics; to build leadership, network with individuals, build my confidence and contribute meaningfully to society.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI? 
It is exciting and fulfilling. I feel privileged to be among people who challenge and inspire me to grow.

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
As a graphic designer. I intend to give my time, creativity, and commitment to the growth of the organization. I hope to gain leadership experience, personal development, and lifelong connections.

An interesting response from Adeniyi David Omololu, a 200 level student of Archaeology and Anthropology department.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
My impression of JCI before deciding to become a member was that JCI is a society that builds young people to become leaders that would make a positive impact in the society.

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
What made me decided to become a member of JCIN UI is that I see JCIN as a platform and society that can help me build my leadership skill, public speaking ability, ability to solve problems especially in our immediate society, a platform to network with like-minded people who focus on growth and to build my ability to work as a team.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
How I feel becoming a member of JCIN UI is that I feel I am about to impact lives and build myself (growth). I also feel accomplished because it is part of my goals for this year to join the JCIN UI.

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to give my time, talent and treasure. I intend to be committed and actively participate in the activities of JCIN UI.  I hope to gain, build myself towards positive growth , serve, and empower me to become a good leader that can spark change and improve the society

From Isaac Peace Ovayoza, a 400 level student of mechanical engineering department

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
Well l don’t have much though, l was just wondering what organisation this was that has a  promising growth, leadership and the ability to grow my network and plus a friend encouraged to actually go ahead with my decision to join because of the exposure I would get

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
An entrepreneur l realized l would need the network and exposure JCI can give me.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
Well l don’t think l am feeling anything much yet because l have not seen much as well, so l am just open and curious as it all unfolds at the moment

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
All l know JCI needs from me at the moment is my time, money, skills and ideas, by the way l know JCI is expensive, I hope to gain the network, exposure, visibility for my business and the leadership skills

Next is Sadiq Shamsudeen Omotayo,  a 300-level computer science student

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
Initially, JCIN UI was basically an organisation that would look good on my CV. Nothing much. I was wrong, it’s so much more than that. I’m very excited to be a member.

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
I was searching for a new experience for myself, something out of my comfort zone.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
I feel it’s a new beginning for me. I look forward to discovering what I have to offer to JCI and what JCI has to offer me

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to serve the organisation in every way I can and I hope the organisation will serve me in every way it can.

Adigun Monsurat Moradeke, a 300 level student from the English department gave an interesting response.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
The ability it has to develop leadership opportunities for its members.

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
I want to grow my leadership skills and I also want to learn from like-minded people.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
I feel excited and at the same time, fulfilled.

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI? 
I intend to give my full support to uphold JCIN UI’s values and morals. I also intend to gain networking opportunities as well as building my leadership skills and opportunities.

A  humorous response from Charles Gift, a 200 level student from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
I didn’t really know much about JCI. For me, they were just the people that did FOPA and that was all.

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
A friend told me about JCIN UI , it’s rich history and their goals really resonated with me.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
⁠I feel excited to be able to start this new phase of my life with like minded individuals.

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to give JCIN UI my energy, skills, passion for learning and doing and resilience. I hope to gain experience, networking and leadership and a community.

Adeyilola Caleb Oluwasegun, a 300L student of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering have short and precise response.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
An Organization of growth

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
I needed a place to grow with like-minded people,to  develop myself and sharpen my skills(leadership skills, video editing skills)

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
Well….I feel excited

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to give JCIN UI my all, in terms of commitment and presence and i hope to gain more enlightenment on leadership and growth

Another interesting and detailed response from Adebiyi Aisha Adeola, a 200 level Law student.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
Before becoming a member of JCI, I viewed JCI to be a platform that would help grow individuals out of their shells. From the frequent posts I do see on the status of the Director of Communication and External Relations, I figured it was a personal development platform.

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
The main reason that made me decide to become a member was because I’m really big on self development and giving back to society. Hence, upon getting to know the mission and purpose of JCI, I knew this was the right path.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
I feel very glad to become a member of the JCIN UI. It feels like the beginning of the milestone of great and future achievement.

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to give JCIN UI my personal skills, assisting in volunteering that would impact the community, and most importantly be a very resourceful member. Also, I hope to gain a lot from JCIN UI, right from self development to being the best version of myself.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
My impression of JCI, well I didn’t know much of the organization, just that it was made for students to build skills and network

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
I decided to become a member so that I could improve on my personal skills, to network and to also become a more outstanding member of the society

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
I feel happy and blessed that I can be called a member of JCI

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to give JCI my best effort and contribute in all the various ways I can to this organization, and I hope to gain valuable skills that will help me move forward easily and advance in my life and career.

Christopher Shulamite, a 100 level student of the Human kinetics department gave a relatable response.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
I learnt that JCI helps develop public speaking skills

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
My friends Samuel and Oluwatosin who are members of JCIN UI made me want to join JCI from the way they dressed to GAs to their composure. I sensed that there was something making them different and it was JCI.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
I feel very happy and delighted to join JCI 

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to give my all in JCI and I really want JCI to aid my public speaking

Margret Bankole, a 300-level Law student and the Vice hall Chairperson of Queen Elizabeth II hall, UI.

‎What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
‎Before joining, I saw JCI as an organization that is committed to grooming people into excellent and responsible leaders. I see the organization as one that is focused on the development of its members.

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
‎I decided to join JCI because I felt its mission and vision aligned with my values. I also wanted to challenge myself, improve my leadership and personal development skills, and connect with like-minded people.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
‎I am so excited. It feels like I have taken a bold step into a place where growth, service, and opportunities are unlimited.

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
‎I intend to give my dedication, commitment, creativity, and willingness to serve. I also hope to improve my leadership abilities, grow personally, network, and make a real impact.

Finally is a short and simple response from Titobiloluwa Lily Aladejana, a 300 level student of Economics.

What was your impression of JCI before deciding to become a member?
I saw JCI as a great organization and a prestigious organization for well-connected students

What made you decide to become a member of JCIN UI?
My thirst to acquire leadership and communication skills.

How do you feel about becoming a member of JCIN UI?
I  feel inspired and proud of myself for taking a great step.

What do you intend to give to JCIN UI and what do you hope to gain from JCIN UI?
I intend to give JCIN UI my total cooperation, knowledge and skills and I hope to gain every good thing JCIN UI has to offer.


From first impressions to future ambitions, it’s clear that the newly inducted members are ready to make a mark. The induction ceremony wasn’t just a formal event, it was the start of something great. We can’t wait to see their stories unfold. We wish the newly inducted JCIN UI members the very best as they begin their JCI journey.
